Wilson Camelo is Agency Principal and Vice President of Public Relations at Bauzá & Associates. He is also the author of latino lingo, the longest-running blog focused on Hispanic marketing. He has more than 15 years experience as a senior communication strategist in both the general market and Hispanic market. He has worked with local, regional and national clients including National Penn Bank, Connecticut Light & Power, Yankee Gas, Bigelow Tea, Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, and Bruegger’s Bagels.
Camelo’s communication career proudly began in the United States Air Force. While on active duty, he personally advised, prepared and accompanied 4-star generals at national level media and speaking events. Now Maj. Camelo, he continues to serve in the Air Force Reserve and is currently the senior Public Affairs Officer at Westover Air Reserve Base, Mass., the Air Force’s largest Reserve base.
His work has been recognized by numerous national, regional and state public relations awards from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Publicity Club of New England, and the Connecticut PRSA. Camelo served as Secretary of PRSA’s Multicultural Communication Professional Interest Section, is on the board of the Southern Connecticut Chapter of PRSA – serving twice as chapter president – and the Connecticut Ad Club board.
