New York Cares Day 2007
On Saturday, October 20, 2007 from 9:30am to 3:30pm there is an annual event to raise money to support New York Cares”” year-round programming and revitalize schools for New York City kids.New York Cares is looking for 8,000 volunteers to help paint a brighter future for New York City students. It a great opportunity to help give thousands of children cleaner, safer and more stimulating environments in which to learn and grow.
The New York Alumni chapter is in the process of collecting Lambda Brothers to join our efforts on this day. This is a fun day of painting and cleaning with fellow New Yorkers. I hope we can get a great turn out for this event.
In addition to being a great day of service, New York Cares Day is also an important fundraiser for New York Cares. Like a walk-a-thon, they encourage volunteers to ask family, friends and co-workers to pledge donations in honor of the service they perform that day. Last year, New York Cares touched the lives of over 335,000 New Yorkers in need—reading with children, serving food to the hungry, distributing coats and holiday gifts to those who would otherwise go without, and so much more. Their work would not be possible without financial support.
