Brother José Valerio (FB Gamma Mu, Spring 2008) Earns Bronze Star Medal

Brother Jose Valerio Jr. (FB Gamma Mu, Spring 2008), who recently returned from a deployment to Afghanistan, was officially presented the Bronze Star Medal by Brigadier General Gabriel Troiano, Commander of the Military Intelligence Readiness Command. Brother Valerio, a 1st Lieutenant Military Intelligence Officer, supported  7th Special Forces Group with various special operations missions both on the ground in team elements and from operations centers briefing high level personnel on mission critical information during Operation Enduring Freedom. He was responsible for the planning and coordination of 100 joint combat patrols and 200 key leader engagements which led to over 200 insurgents being removed from the battlefield.

Brother Valerio was personally selected to be embedded with a special forces team in order to augment operations and ensure the success of the many missions conducted. Brother Valerio returned home in December 2013 after having been deployed for 10 months. Since his return from active duty, Brother Valerio has been active with his chapter has even set out to run for the position of national director of expansion.
