COVID-19 has definitely changed our way of life in the world. Fortunately, there has been a way to protect ourselves and that is by getting the COVID-19 vaccine(s). There are many misconceptions about the COVID vaccines and the goal is to clarify as much as we can about the vaccine.

COVID-19 Vaccine Facts:

  • COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective at preventing COVID-19 disease. Although nothing is 100%, the vaccine will mostly protect one from the disease and especially severe illness and death.
  • COVID-19 vaccines assist in reducing the risk of spreading the virus.
  • Side effects after COVID-19 vaccinations are normal.
    • Pain, Redness, and Swelling on the arm you got the shot at
    • Tiredness, Headache, Muscle pain, Chills, Fever, Nausea are common side effects throughout the rest of your body.
    • Generally, the second shot one will experience more intense side effects than the first shot
  • Recommendations to Relieve Side Effects
    • Move/exercise the arm you got the shot in
    • Drink lots of fluids (Water, Gatorade, etc.)
    • Dress lightly

As cases are slowly going up again, we want to encourage all to get vaccinated. The Covid-19 Delta variant is spreading quickly all over the world, especially in the United States. It is believed that the Delta variant will soon be the dominant strain in the U.S. The Delta variant is also more contagious than the other variants. As of July 8, 2021, 24 states are seeing a 10% increase in covid cases. One thing that is currently noticeable is that majority of those who are contracting covid currently are unvaccinated. Deaths due to covid are currently almost all unvaccinated individuals.

Latinos are vaccinated for COVID-19 at a lower rate than the White community despite the Latino community being one of the communities to be hit the hardest by COVID.

We encourage all to do their research and consider getting vaccinated. Everyone who is 12 years old and older are eligible to receive the vaccines.
