It is with great honor and privilege that we announce our National partnership with Friends of the American Latino Museum (FRIENDS). This is the only organization exclusively dedicated to the campaign and continued development for the National Smithsonian American Latino Museum in Washington, D.C. We discussed our partnership on April 23, 2021. As partners with FRIENDS, we will be able to educate our members on what exactly is being done and how we can be of assistance in creating a Smithsonian National American Latino Museum. Per our National President Kenneth Reyes, “we are excited to see this relationship build.”

Per FRIENDS, “Even though American Latino contributions in the U.S. span centuries, most Americans remain unaware of the past and present role of Latinos in building and strengthening our nation. Our national museums must portray a complete picture of American history, one that highlights the impact of American Latinos throughout history. In 2008 Congress chartered a bipartisan Commission to study the feasibility of a National American Latino Museum. The Commission released its report on May 5, 2011, which identified a great urgency among Americans for a museum of this kind, and recommended that this museum be located on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., and be part of the Smithsonian Institution with funding that reflects the public-private partnership that all Smithsonian institutions enjoy.”

Furthermore, the networking opportunities are great in terms of partnerships that FRIENDS have already established. We look forward to working with these other pro-Latino organizations. Some of the organizations and individuals that are a part of a partnership with FRIENDS are Eva Longoria, Rita Moreno, Becky G, Univision, and Bank of America.

We, Lambda Theta Phi Latin Fraternity, Inc. are officially pledging our support for this campaign that is led by Friends of the American Latino Museum
